On a microscopic level, each cell has its own supporting structure composed of the cytoskeleton and cell membrane. They keep the cell in shape while they also function as vessels for transporting and delivering molecules such as proteins within subcellular structures and between individual cells.
Based on observations of the unique shapes of neurons under a microscope, this sculpture aims to express the organic form of the cell body of a neuron with metal wire and rice paper.
