I was struck by the decaying body depicted in Charles Baudelaire’s poem “A Carcass.” Reflected on the scene where worms feed and grow on the bloated corpse, I sensed a transformation of energy and physical forms from one organism to another.
This garment is an attempt to capture the transformation process of the human body. The garment mimics the segmented outer body of a worm, and it inflates only when a person is walking while wearing it. As someone walks in this garment, the garment grows larger and larger by feeding on the air delivered through the person’s movement.
